Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Her first Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working with famous directors and actors both on screen and in television. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, on Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of it becomes a Hulu Original. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production is led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters in the first impeachment trial in the United States in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
